The Renon railway
On the 13th August 1907 a narrow gauge railway was opened, and for the first time it was possible to travel from Bozen to Renon, with an altitude difference of 1000 metres, in the then unbelievable time of 90 minutes.
The cog railway survived two World Wars, deep political and economic crises, and was until the 1960s the lifeline of the Ritten. The service has been finally suspended on September 17th 2007, after 40 years of service,
On May 23rd 2009 the new Renon cable car - with its wonderful panoramic cabins - has been inaugurated. Departures every 4 minutes.
The so called "Rittner Bahndl" takes you from Soprabolzano to Renon and offers a direct connection to the cable car.
